  1. My name is Megan Bird and I live just 15 minutes outside of Boston, in a town named Reading. I am a nursing student and currently getting all my gen.ed. classes done. I just signed up to be a part of the clubs ‘Habitat for Humanity’ and ‘Paws for People.’ Throughout my journey here at QU, I am looking forward to making life time friends, memories, and getting the most out of my education. I expect the workload to be heavy and tough, but manageable.
  2. As I spend the next several years here, getting involved will motivate me. Clubs, sporting events, and meeting new people will help motivate me. I enjoy being social and college is definitely the right place for that. I will go out with friends, whether it’s a study group, going to sporting events, or a party. I’m extremely interested in the medical field and am extremely pleased that I am in the nursing program.
  3. I hope that my relationship with my advisor can help support me and guide me through the tough classes I will have to take for my major. My main goal for my time at Quinnipiac is to become the best nurse I can be. I want to focus on school work, while also enjoying my time here.
  4. As for second semester, I am excited to pick out classes, even though my schedule is pretty much set in stone due to my major. However, I am looking forward to picking out a few classes that interest me.

This section of the ePortfolio is designed to help me develop a set of Milestones (goals/expectations) that allow me to work towards developing my Roadmap, rather than just following a plan set out for me. By developing and tracking my academic and personal goals, I am taking ownership of my learning, my courses, and my involvement in the greater QU community, leading me to be more autonomous and proactive in making decisions.

Identifying Milestones allows me, with the help of my professors, advisors, mentors and peers, to design a Roadmap to meet opportunities.  Compiling these Milestones over time will allow me to connect and articulate my learning and experiences with my family, friends, future employer, or graduate school admissions officers.  This section encourages me to reflect on my overall educational experience as it evolves during my time at Quinnipiac.
