I believe that learning takes place in a variety of settings. I chose to highlight student work that emerges from context-rich environments where students are outside of their comfort zones, forced to think on their feet and draw deep into their formal education and personal experiences, while they are supported and mentored along the way. The feedback is instantaneous and made meaningful through reflection on the direct impact of the students' actions. Powerful, transformative learning transpires when students are immersed and are able to engage in meta-cognitive and meta-emotional exercise while in-action and at its conclusion.
