Learning Artifacts: Thematic Unit & Final Reflection Paper

 

About the Learning Artifacts 

This course taught education students like myself how to properly manage a classroom and maintain a positive learning environment. The two learning artifacts that I chose to display are a thematic unit poster and my final reflection paper.

 

My classmates and I were divided into groups to creatively come up with a thematic unit for fourth-graders. Thematic units like these are not only used to utilize a student's Multiple Intelligences, but to also engage students by allowing them to choose a theme and topic that most interests them. My final reflection paper asked us to review all we have learned from the course and choose one aspect of management for us to consider, whether this be about student discourse, classroom policies and procedures, classroom layout, etc. I chose to focus on classroom discourse by having my paper answer the following question: How can educators effectively manage classroom communication to enhance student engagement? Both of these learning artifacts from this course can be found below.
